Meeting of the State Financial Intelligence Service with the U.S. Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic Leslie Viguerie

A meeting was held at the State Financial Intelligence Service under the Ministry of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic (SFIS) between the SFIS leadership and the Ambassador of the United States of America to the Kyrgyz Republic, Mr. Leslie Viguerie.
The SFIS delegation was headed by Chairman Kanat Asangulov and included Deputy Chairman Bakyt Alisherov, as well as heads of other structural divisions.
The U.S. Embassy was represented by Ambassador Leslie Viguerie and Political Adviser Ryan Flory.
During the meeting, the parties discussed current areas of cooperation, including the implementation of joint projects with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) supported by the INL Section of the U.S. Embassy, the establishment of a situation center, and the development of a financial investigations manual jointly prepared by the State Committee for National Security, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the General Prosecutor’s Office, and the SFIS.
The discussion also covered issues of combating financial crimes, interagency coordination, implementation of the Law “On Countering the Financing of Criminal Activity and the Legalization (Laundering) of Criminal Proceeds,” as well as conducting parallel financial investigations.
Particular attention was paid to preparations for the Third Round of FATF/EAG Mutual Evaluations, the development of human and technical capacity, and current trends in financial crime, including the rise of cybercrime, fraud, and the use of virtual assets and artificial intelligence technologies.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed their interest in further strengthening partnership relations, sharing expertise, and developing new joint initiatives in the field of AML/CFT/CPF.
